The front and back yards were a different story. Don't get me wrong- they were both fine. Just very, very boring. Here is a look at the front yard when we first moved in.
Slowly, we have made some progress. Key word- slowly. In March, we poured concrete in a few strategic places. This helped to clean areas up as well as to enlarge our driveway and create a 'front porch' if you will.
Meanwhile, we have been killing off the lawn that was chock full of bermuda and crab grass. It's been hard to be patient as this is quite a process. All summer- dirt for a front yard...dirt turned neighborhood kitty litter box. I'm ready for landscaping!
To hold me over and to show the neighbors that we do have good intentions, I decided to plant some pots and get a bench to create more of a 'front porch'... So, my mom and I went to Pottery World to find some pots. We found so many that we liked, but mom helped me to focus and pull a complimentary group together. I planted them shortly after bringing them home, and here is how they've grown in and filled out.
Next up, I will plant the front plot along the garage. The plan is to follow the same scheme as I went with in the pots. Bright greens with contrasting reds and plums. Texture will be key too.
What do you think so far?
The pots look great...keep watering them, they look very happy. Can't wait to see the latest progress.
